Art History

  • Demonstrate the ability to use visual evidence to analyze and explain human activity in the recent and distant past, in ways not necessarily communicated by other types of historical evidence.
  • Demonstrate analytical and communication skills to research and write papers and deliver oral presentations to examine in detail the art of a particular historical period and a particular medium.
  • Demonstrate the ability to explain the development of art over a broad geographical and temporal range that is indicative of the cultural values of the societies from which they arise.
  • Ability to apply art-historical skills to practical and creative problems encountered in citizenship and the workplace.
